Update about why I'm not posting much.

I was DX: with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain Syndrome, Restless legs Syndrome and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. No meds have worked yet with my severe pain.

I SO HATE WAKING UP SO exhausted THAT I CAN'T KEEP MY EYES OPEN AND EVEN WHEN I GO BACK TO BED AND WAKE UP AGAIN I'M EVEN excusted THAT WHEN I WENT TO BED THE FIRST TIME.
PAIN PAIN PAIN GO AWAY DON'T COME BACK ANOTHER DAY!!!! HAHA
TODAY IS A BAD BAD FIBRO DAY. I HURT FROM MY HAIR ROOTS DOWN TO MY TOES.
I WILL TRY TO PUT IN WORDS JUST HOW I'M FEELING RIGHT NOW.
What I call zapping = zapping is when pain hits me in spots here and there, where the zapping pain moves all over my body as in it may zap my upper leg and eye at same time or another place in my body it don't just hit one place and stay there. That's what I call zapping(pain).
MY HEAD:
My eyes hurt with pain or throbbing in his head and eyes all the time be it strong or lite. My eyesight is always coming and going making it very hard to see clear, with tired dried burning most of the time. Headaches from strong to mild. Ringing in my ears that come and go. "THE FIBRO FOG" it upsets me not being able to remember things like when I'm talking I forget what I was just going to say or I go to write something down so I don't forget it and I forget to write it down hmm. My hubby will tell me to remind him of something and I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Lights hurt my eyes anytime of the day or nite. I can now smell things stronger and longer that now upset my tummy or goes straight to my head. It's strange how I can even smell some of this stuff. The bones in my face all hurt and it's not like the same feeling I have when my sinus kicks in this pain is more like a dull to painful feeling like my bones being chipped away little by little on the inside not outside of them. The mussels feel so sore like I over worked them. Zapping pain all over even in my eyes .

MY NECK: Has dull to painful and I get zapping pain in different spots all over it. My glans swell up and become sore.
My neck feels sore to just touch it and it feels like it can't hold my head up any longer. The bones in my neck go from dull to very painful and my muscles are tender to very sore.

MY SHOULDERS: Oh my they never stop hurting not even on a good day. I always have that feeling like my bones being chipped away little by little on the inside not outside of them. both my shoulders feels like there both being pulled and twisted out of there joints oh my they hurt so bad. They both hurt when I just try to move or bend my elbow or just move my arms at all. The bones in my shoulders go from dull to very painful and my mussels are tender to very sore and then I get the zapping pain in them.

MY ARMS: The bones in both upper and lower arms all hurt from feeling like my bones being chipped away little by little on the inside not outside of them. The mussels feel so sore like I over worked them and are badly bruised. Oh my when I get that zapping pain in both my arms its so painful its hard not to set crying like a little baby. Both of my arms feel so heavy when I move them.

MY HAND & FINGERS: I'm now getting Charley horses in them both along with cramping, burning, throbbing burning and pain in them both.

MY BACK: My lower back never stops hurting , aching or burning. I know when the pain in my lower back moves down to my butt cheeks that I had better find a place to set down or the pain will feel as though someone just kicked both my legs out from under me and down I fall and sometimes without a warning. BED TIME WOW I try to stay up as long as I can till I'm so tired I just pass out then I'll go to bed because I know when my body touched the bed it's going to be so painful that's its even hard to catch my breath due to being in so much pain. I have to lay still as I can not to move at all so the pain from the bed touching my back will go down to a dull pain. But now if I need to move or turn in bed oh my all that pain comes back again till my body gets used to the bed touching it this happens with each movement, even on my good days. Zapping pain all over.

MY CHEST/ RIBS: The more pain I have the harder it if for me to breath. My chest and ribs always feel like I should be black and blue all over. Just to try and wear my bra can be so painful for it just touching my ribs and skin oh my. I always have aching all over my chest and ribs. I also get zapping all over and pain inside my ribs and my chest bones and boy does it ever so hurt.

MY STOMACH: I get Charley horses in my stomach so bad and bloating and zapping pains all over. Everything i eat or drink I get an upset stomach. My bowels are no longer normal for me.

MY HIPS: OH My what pain wow both hips feel as though there being twisted and pulled apart. Now days I don't have to move much with hearing them pop feeling like they just popped out if joint. Then pain inside my hip bones ache and zap all over with pain. Some times it fills like I'm giving birth again.

MY LEGS: My legs are swelled up and stay that way and now I'm getting these hard knots going from the sides of both legs over my knees up to both hips. The knots are very hard and heavy and are starting to hang down pulling my skin so it makes them burn and ache, man they do get in my way too. I can't lie on my sides thinks to these long big knots due to feeling like I'm lying on a wadded up thick blanket. Zapping pain all over.

MY ANKLES & FEET: My legs and feet both stay so badly swelled that I look deformed from having rolls on my ankles and legs. I have stretch marks on my feet even from them swelling up so big. My legs and ankles and feet burn ache and feel like there badly bruised but there not. Zapping pain all over.

MY SKIN: My skin always ache and burn and feel as though its badly bruised all over. Zapping pain all over.

MY JOINTS: My joints from my head to my toes all burn, and all feel like there being twisted out of there sockets as there shooting pain in them. The bad thing is I don't even have to move for them to hurt and oh my when I do move any joint its so painful that it even makes it hard to breath. All my joints are always popping like they just popped out of place and that is so very painful. Zapping pain all over.
MY MUSCLES: My muscles burn and get Charley horses all over them from my face to my feet. Not a day goes by without them aching and burning. Zapping pain all over.

MY BONES: I always have that feeling like my bones being chipped away little by little on the inside not outside of them. They ache all the time never stopping. A dull persistent (usually moderately intense) pain. Sometimes my bones feel like there on fire and to use them as in to stand up wow the pain kicks in even more so, with the feeling like there about to explode at any time. Zapping pain all over.
I know I have left out alot of other things but this is just some of the ways I'm feeling the last few weeks.
I have something going on with my feet that is new ,well its been going on since last week in July2010. My nest to last toe next to my pinky toe is being pulled under my foot on both my feet. I can see what looks like a line or where a tendon is being pulled tight and it runs from mt toe up to my lower back on both sides. What can this be? I cant strighten out my legs without it pulling on my toes and the wow the cramping Charley horses.
Funny how people that do'n have Fibro can tell you I't all in your head or you just need to go for walks. Ok let them put on my shoes and let me see just how far they can and will walk. Don't think they would make it more that 5 or 6 feet befor they were hurting so bad that they have to set down or fall down.

Hi There, Sorry for not posting in sometime things have been nuts here for some time. With my hubby Karl having a type of bone cancer we have been going nuts having to go to all his doctors and now with Karl having all these blood transfusions 2 times each week now. I went to my doctor about having so much pain in my bones and all over my body/ hands and doc tells me after our talk and test that I have the worse case of Chronic Fibromyalgia. The pain of fibromyalgia is profound, chronic and widespread. It can migrate to all parts of the body and vary in intensity. FM pain has been described as stabbing and shooting pain and deep muscular aching, throbbing, and twitching. Neurological complaints such as numbness, tingling, and burning are often present and add to the discomfort of the patient. The severity of the pain and stiffness is often worse in the morning. Aggravating factors that affect pain include cold/humid weather, non-restorative sleep, physical and mental fatigue, excessive physical activity, physical inactivity, anxiety and stress.Pain inside the bones hurt so bad and I now know some of how Karl (hubby) feels when his cancer bone pain kicks in. I feel so sorry for him as he now has Chronic Fibromyalgia along with his bone cancer just his luck. Karl has lost so much weight now and is having a hard time keeping his blood counts up is why he has to get packed red cells and platelet 2 times each week and there not enough to bring up his counts. As of for now Karl is working hard to get this house done so we can sell it and move back to Texas. I believe once I have Karl in TX. with better cancer help than he will ever get here in Fl. Here in Fl. if one don't have big bucks they will not help you or take time out of there day to help or talk to you about cancer. I'm from Texas where the Doctors take time to help others and care for people as they do there own family not turn there heads due to being on medicare like doctors here in Fl do. Karl is sticking to June 30th to be all done with house and ready to move out of here on July 7th back home to NE Texas. Thanks to fibro I can't crochet , loom or touch my yarn now due to it burning my hands and so much pain in my hands and body to play with my yarn that I miss so much. Hugs have a great day/ nite.

Update on what my Dear friend Darlene Rambo has been doing. As you know Darlene puts what is in her head into what she is crocheting. Darlene and I have both been learning how to read patterns and as you can see from the pics below shes doing a great job. Hi! I'm making up for lost time with my crocheting. This week I have made Hats, a shrug with matching hat and a rug for my hubby Karl. Karl's still been in alot of pain this week and is still getting weak. It's hard to watch him struggle to get dressed and not to fall. Karl's doing great this far on quiting smoking. As of Wed. morning around 2am he smoked his last cig. Here are some pics of what I have made this week without a pattern. All was just made up as I hooked it.

Hi! Sorry For not posting before now. As of Nov 09 I'm back to crocheting after 4 surgery, and healing time, I'm getting back to my crocheting if and when my hands let me. I go back to my hand/ wrist doc Dec 3, 09 so that we can talk about doing surgery on my right (good) hand. Doctor said he wants to work on my right hand so that it will be well enough for me to use it so he can try and finish up the surgeries on my left hand. It has been one long year with out being able to play with my yarn. As for my husband Karl he's still hanging in there and trying to get as much work done on our home as he can, so he can go in for a transplant at the cancer center up in Tampa, Fl. Karl has lost a lot of weight so I put him on power maxx hydro micronized protein mix it works as long as he drinks 3 or 4 glasses a day and works or moves around no matter how bad he is in pain or how tired, he still needs to keep trying to move as much as he can. Thanks to this drink mix hes not losing weight as fast now and it taste good. I crocked Karl a coster for his coffee cup and I made up this hat to wear fishing this winter here in Fl. it's my 1st crochet hat that I have made. It was so much fun making it even though I messed up on it some. My left wrist did not like me too much for pushing it so I could get done with the hat then rest my wrist lol. It's still hard to loom yet but hope I get bk to looming soon. As for my dear friend Darlene shes been crocheting all kinds of kool things even send me some bags she made. Oh my I will have to post a pic soon of something Darlene made using a new stitch she seen, and she did a great job on it as always.

I made this up myself so the res no pattern and my dear friend Darlene was on the comp chatting with me as I worked on it.

Good & Bad News

The good news is that July 8 I will be having another big surgery on my left hand. Doc said he will go in and fix everything he can in my wrist/hand that way don't have to go back in there anymore. I will be in a cast for 6 to 7 weeks. As soon as I get out of my cast he will work on my right thumb and that wrist. So I should be back to looming by Christmas. Now for the bad news. As of 6-26-90 we just found out that Karl (my husband) has Primary Myelofibrosis also called Agnogenic Myeloid Metaplasia (AMM) No Cure, can only be slowed down some. This occurs when the bone marrow produces too much collagen or fibrous tissue in the bone marrow. This reduces bone marrow's ability to produce blood cells. As of Monday 29 Karl started his first day of chemo using pill form Hydroxyurea -- may control complications, such as enlargement of the liver and spleen, reduce the number of white cells and
platelets in the blood, and improve anemia. We will see it this chemo helps Karl's liver and spleen as of now Karl's spleen is the size his liver would be if it was at normal size. Keep us in your prayers. Hugs

Update on Shealee

As of friday, May 15th Shealee is back home from the hospital. More surgery will have to follow after the swelling goes down to try to save the growth plates or her little hand will be deformed as she grows. She still needs your prayers.
She has great doctors who are looking after her very well.

Update on my granddaughter Shealee. Shealee is still in the hospital as of now.
((All dog bites carry a risk of infection, but immediate copious irrigation can significantly decrease that risk. Assessment for the risk of tetanus and rabies virus infection, and subsequent selection of prophylactic antibiotics, are essential in the management of dog bites.))

The doctors are keeping her in the hospital due to needing to take a MRI on her little hand and wrist where that pit bull damage it. The pit bull broke her right wrist when it bit her right hand breaking her hand in two places as well.

The reason for the MRI on her hand is to see if they can save her growth plate in her hand an wrist that was badly damaged. The doctor said he would try his best to save Shealee's hand but it is badly damage. Both my granddaughter an my daughter are both like me, yep there lefties too lol. I'm just glad it was her right hand an not her left hand. As for me I'm now taking therapy for my left hand after my 2-31-09 surgery on my hand. I can now sometimes open a bag of ramen noodles if its not to hard to open. I still will need 2 or 3 more surgeries before I can get back to looming and crocheting again. Thanks to the first surgery I'm not in as much pain now. Keep Shealee in your prayers she needs them thank you.

Another class block done

I would like to thank Pam Keville for sharing her pattern with our yahoo loom class.
I enjoyed loom this zig zag block was fun and very easy to loom.

I'm still looming slow due to me left hand but I'm getting them done lol. I had to tell Doc the Chiropractic That I would have to back off from seeing her. It's not that she didn't help me ( she did) ,it's just that we need that money for work on our home right now then I'll go back when I can.

Free Loomed Ski Mask Pattern

This is my pattern for an Adult size ski mask

Loomed Ski Mask Pattern

Sample was loomed using 7oz red heart super saver medium (4)ply
Bulkier yarn recommended for very cold areas.
Picture shown was done using basic e-wrap (1 over 1)

Tools needed:
Green knifty knitter round loom
Tapestry Needle
Scissors
Loom tool

Gauge: not important

Working with 2 strands of yarn as 1 doing Basic E-wrap.

Step 1:
Knitting all the way around… leaving a tail long enough to weave in later using 2 strands of yarn held as one, cast on to the loom using the E-wrap cast on. E-wrap and knit off in single stitch (1 over 1) for a total of 7 rows.

Step 2: Making the brim
You will be performing a cuffed brim by bringing the cast on loops back up to place on the pegs again and knit off the bottom loop over the top. (You will not be doing any wrapping for this process.) You can hide your beginning tail by sandwiching it in between the two layers before knitting off.

Step 3:
Using the double stitch (1 over 2), E-wrap in the round, for 40 rows.

Step 4:
This step is making the opening for the eyes.

On pegs 1-11 perform the flat removal method adding a chain between each loop.

Step 5
Top of the mask

Starting at peg 12 working as a flat panel E-wrap pegs 12 - 36 then back to 12. You will have 3 loops on each peg.
Knit off using the double stitch (1 over 2). Continue for 5 rows.
When done you should be back on peg 12.

Step 6
Starting at peg 12 working in the round using the double stitch (1 over 2) all the way around the loom.
You will notice that at the top of the opening in the mask you won't have a double stitch. This is the way it is supposed to be.
Continue working in the round for 35 rows.

Remove from loom using the gathered bind off method. Weave in tail on inside.

I'm so happy Thank you God. Between Visits #4 & #5 to the Chiropractic I have been able to make a fist with my left hand. The weather here in Florida has been so nice like in low 80's, that I have been working out in our yard. As of Saturday I'm now able to make a lose fist (close my hand up) with my left hand. I was looming one of my kiddos a hat on the red KK round loom, till I had a idea. I made a ski mask out of that hat but it needs to be thicker lol. I will post a photo of it so maybe you can tell me what you think of it. If you like it I can write up a pattern for the ski mask. The ski mask is very easy to make.

Monday was back to the Chiropractic

Monday I went back Chiropractic for visit #3. Dr. Bernice worked on my hips, neck, left leg and my left arm. I can still bend and twist my left wrist without pain. I still can't make a fist with my left hand yet and now that the pain is gone in my left hand I can really feel the cramping and drawing up in my last three fingers in my left hand. I still can't straighten out them three last fingers all the way yes but Dr. Bernice is still working on them. I now can loom a little more than last visit to Dr. Bernice. I'm now working on my Zig Zag block for yahoo loom class. I'm still looming slow but I can loom about 4 or 5 rows before I have to rest my left hand, but its better than 1/2 or just one row before having to rest. Glad I'm just working with 30 pegs and not more lol or I would never get done as slow as I'm looming lol. My hand is ok as long as I don't lift anything 4oz, I know that's now much weight but anything over that makes my left hand start to draw up and cramp like crazy. I go back tomorrow for visit #4. Here are photos of the yahoo loomclass block I'm now working on. I also would like to show you how I work with my loom as a leftie. I love these stitch markers. They're made by Boye. I picked mine up at Walmart in the craft section. You'll find them with the knitting needles and crochet hooks. I placed the stitch markers on the pegs that I'm working the (P) purl stitch. In the pics you will see where I'm working a k4, p2, k4, p2 stitch and the pegs with the stitch markers are for p stitches. I don't close the markers because when I get to the next row I just pull the markers off one peg and slide them on another peg as needed. I also use a straw to E-wrap with, but on this block I'm working on I use the straw to keep my yarn from messing up as I'm using one skein of yarn as two strands-working with both inside and outside of this skein of yarn as one. This is an easy way to do it and you don't end up with two 1/2 skeins left over on a small project like this. I hope this helps newbies or anyone that uses two skeins of yarn for projects that call for using two strands as one. When you set your work down just push the straw up to the skein of yarn that way it won't get tangled up.

This is a good pic showing both yarns from inside (the end of skein) and the outside yarn of that one skein of yarn.

Here's a closeup of the stitch markers. This is also the way I hold my loom when working counter clockwise or right to left.

My first experience with a Chiropractic

Hello! I hope your doing well today. With all this pain in my hands that has been keeping me from looming, crocheting or much of anything at all since August my hubby said I need to go see his Chiropractic. Thursday 11 was my first visit, where they did some test on me so they could see what was going on with my bones and nerves that way they would know if they could help me with this pain or not.All the people in that office were so nice and they make you feel so welcome there.

Today ( Friday 12th )2nd trip back to Chiropractic. Dr. Bernice went over all the test with me. ( wow is my nervous system and bones in a mess lol ) Dr. Bernice did some adjustments on my bones started with my neck with some pops my back my left elbow my right thumb my and some other places. WOW I can't believe how much better I feel just from a twist here and a pop pop here and there. I now can turn and twist
my left wrist for the first time since August without any pain. I know it will take time to heal so my wrist will still be sore. If you live in or close to Winter Haven, Fl.and have any back pain or hand pain that's keeping you from doing anything look her up she great here is her web site.

Its so great to be back to looming even though I'm going slow due to the pain in my hands. This my block 7 of 12 blocks for yahoo loomclass. A special thanks to Jennifer K. Stark for designing this block and teaching the class.

I know I skipped block 6 but that one is going to be my last block to loom because its a cable block.
I want the technique for the cable fresh in my mind when I make something for hubby. When we were in upstate NY on our honeymoon trip I found me some hooks that I could use for looming and I added big fat handles on them all. Thanks to the thick handles on the hooks I'm now able to loom slowly now. Looming slow is better than no looming at all with my hands hurting like they do. Here is a closer photo of my new handle.

Just to let you know my left hand is slowly getting better as of Tuesday 18, I tried to see if I could get back to working on my Yahoo LoomClass blocks.
I was able to work about 5 rows before I had to stop and let my left hand rest up. I'm so far behind on looming but a little looming a day is better than no looming at all. Take care and stay warm.

Hi All,, Why I have not posted

Hi I just wanted to let you know that we made it back home August the 28 and on Sat30 I sprained my left wrist bad so I wasn't able to use my left hand at all and was hard for me to do anything right handed due to pain in my right thumb. On Oct.30 I re hurt my left wrist really bad again so hubby took me to ER they took x-rays of my left wrist no broken bones just a bad sprain and said I had 3 cyst's in the wrist joint that was due to the sprain along with arthritis. The ER Doc said I would have to wear a splint for 6 to 12 weeks. So up till Oct 23 I couldn't use my left hand at all till that Thurs, night when I popped my wrist back in place. As of Oct 23 I can bend my wrist some but with my hand being in a splint all that time and before the splint not being able to move anything on left hand it all made the joints so stiff, so I'm working my left fingers and wrist now each day. Bad thing is when I wake up in the morning I have to start all over making fingers move without as much pain. It will be slow going till my hand gets stronger. I can't wait to get back to looming and crocheting, its driving me nuts not being able to do anything but I know it takes time and I don't need to rush it or re hurt my hand again. I guess I will have to go have the Doc remove all 5 cyst's that I have now counting the one on my right thumb due to the burning and pain I have in them when I move my hand.

Our combination visit family/attend weddings/vacation/honeymoon trip

I'm posting some pics from some of our trip. These first pics were from Paris, Tx where my family live. I went to two weddings on sat. June 7th the first wedding was at 4 pm and 2nd wedding was at 8pm and for the state of TX it was also free fishing day, and just our luck we didn't get to go due to the weddings lol but its all good lol. I also got to see my granddaughter and as you will see from my pic I was So happy too see Shealee and my daughter Rosie.

I also got to see my mother and here are some pics of her and a hat/scarf combo I loomed for her and also a shaw I crochet for mom out of red heart when I was 16 years old.

This is another one of my kiddos. Heathers boyfriend just gave her an engadement ring when Heather came to see me, there getting married next winter.

May you have a Safe and Happy 4th. We had a great Anniversary the 3rd. We started the day off paying $500.00 for a Ford truck so we can get on with our combination visit family/attend weddings/vacation/honeymoon trip, went shopping to pick up food to cook for our Anniversary Dinner. Hubby grilled us all a big steak and veggies(yummy). Next weekend we should be up at Floodwood Pond on an island in the middle of the lake camping and fishing for about 2 or 3 weeks before coming back down to Utica, NY. where hubby's brother and sister lives to visit with everyone before going back home to Fl.

Hubby did a great job boy oh boy did it taste so yummy lol. I'm slow with all the goings on here but I'm still working on my loom class block #5 and working on some other looming and crochet things that I will post pics of when I get done.

Hi All, Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. We went on our combination visit family/attend weddings/vacation/honeymoon trip. It has been hard to get on line via wireless. Our trip has come to an abrupt halt when our trusty van suddenly died in Columbus Ohio. Hubbies Brother came and got us, towed our boat trailer up to his house in Upstate NY. So here we are until we find another vehicle to get us back home. As soon as we get home I will catch up on my groups and blog.
As promised here is the pattern for the pigtail hat I showed on the blog earlier. Very special thanks to Robin McCoy for teaching the class for me while we have been gone.

Free Pigtail Hat Pattern:

Pigtail Hat SUPPLY LIST BY Wanda Jean LaChevet wanda_sims2002@yahoo.com

Supply List:

Yarn 6 oz 4 ply (Sample was done with Caron Simply Soft 6 oz worsted weight 4 ply 315 yards (288 m)
Red KK round Loom
2 stands contrasting colored yarn 12" each
Tapestry Needle
Scissors
Loom tool
Crochet hook Sz J or smaller

Gauge: not important
Working with 2 strands of yarn as 1 doing Basic E-wrap.
Step 1:
Knitting all the way around�� leaving a tail long enough to weave in later using 2 strands of yarn held as one, cast on to
the loom using the ewrap cast on. E-wrap and knit off in single stitch (1 over 1) for a total of 7 rows.
Step 2:
You will be performing a cuffed brim by bringing the cast on loops back up to place on the pegs again and knit off
the bottom loop over the top. (You will not be doing any wrapping for this process.) You can hide your beginning
tail by sandwiching it in between the two layers before knitting off.

Step 3:
Continue with the single stitch, e-wrapping every row, for 15 more rows or until desired length. Cut WY leaving 24"
tail. This should be on peg 31

Step 4:
You will need to remove the loops from pegs (1-8) and pegs (16-23) using two pieces of contrasting colored yarn to
hold them until later.

Step 5:
Using the long tail and using the gathered BO (bind off), remove the rest of the loops that remain on the loom on
pegs (9-15) and (24-31). NOTE:**do not pull tight yet.**

Step 6:
Turn the hat inside out. You can either work the other loops straight from the yarn that holds them, or you can put
the loops back on the pegs working one pigtail hole at a time. With working loops back on pegs (1-8) remove waste
yarn. Using 2 strands as one of same color put slip knot on crochet hook and perform the flat removal method
adding a chain between each loop. When you bind off the last loop from that set, pull your working yarn back
through the first loop to finish off the hole. Cut working yarn, tuck in tail.
Repeat with stitches 16-23
Step 7:
With hat removed from loom and inside out gather the center (st 9-15 and 24-31) as one piece pulling tight then tie
tails. Cut leaving enough to tuck in. Weave in all tails

Note:
To convert to green kk loom pegs 1-8 and 19-26 for pigtails. Center of hat pegs 9-18 and 27-36.
To convert to blue KK loom pegs 1-5 and 13-17 for pigtails. Center of hat pegs 6-12 and 18-24.

This is what I am calling my "BOOTY BAG".... I used Red Heart 4 ply yarn , with Peaches and Cream 4 ply white cotton thread. I used a size E crochet hook. I think it turned out pretty well, being my first bag.. It was made without a pattern. I did the bottom like an extra large bootie then just kept going up the sides. Then added a wide strap to be easy on my shoulders. I will try it out the 1st while going across country to see my family one last time .. Hope you enjoy, I enjoyed making this.

Trying Something New

I have been thinking about making a bootie like this for some time, thought I would see if I could do it so here it is. This was just a quickie to test the idea.
It's loomed on the kk flower loom. The lace up was crocheted on after.
Just had to get it out of my mind and on a loom LOL.
Also fixed my wool Greek Fishermans hat. Bought it mail order and it came as ex-large. When I contacted them they didn't have any my size so I made it smaller.
Restitched the back then shrunk the wool. My first attempt at felting so I think it turned out well. Actually shrunk it about 3".
Hubby got some material to make his shopping bags using Knot Knitting. Comming Soon!
Darlene is working on a crochet bag using a size E hook single stitch.

A week of learning fun

Happy May Birthday's to all. I'll even be 50 the 17th.
I crocheted a thermos cozy for hubby this week. It works! Now his coffee stays nice and hot!
I was asked to make my ponytail & pigtail hats using a crochet hook for the ones that don't loom so I tried and here are the pics of my new crochet ponytail hat (not bad for my first ever crochet hat I think) I will get the crochet hat patterns as soon as I can. I'm not really good at reading a crochet pattern so I'm slow to write them. As for the loomed ponytail & pigtail hat patterns, I will post them as soon as the yahoo loom class is over for the pigtail hat. The pigtail hat class starts June 8 - 14th in http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LoomClass/ for anyone that would like to loom it. Robin McCoy will be your teacher for me due to Karl & I will be out of town on our anniversary/family visit/fishing/honeymoon/ vacation trip. Woo Hoo!

Hi, Thought it time I done some talking here about my BABIES!!! I am 64, live in S.Lake Tahoe, Calif.. Im from Indiana and moved here a little over a year ago.. A great friend and I met on yahoo groups and have became good friends and I think you all know who that special friend is ..She is insisting that I get these BABIES together .. I call them my shelf babies, due to finding them at thrift stores , begging to come home with me ..since my kids are grown with kids, I feel a little left out , so since I have been crocheting for a few years , then I found the KK looms , I have been dressing shelf babies with the help of my great friend. We talk every day in yahoo, and I look forward to her signing in .. I love the groups, I have learned so much in such a short time .. Baby's Pony-Tail hat

Baby got a new hat today! I made her a pony-tail hat to go with her new outfit. As you can see she is very happy with it, but then she's always happy. In fact she's a real doll LOL. I've been working on her outfit having now finished her shorts, top, a jumper, pig-tail hat and pony-tail hat along with her super simple booties. All my own design made on the red KK round loom and the KK flower loom. Also completed block #3 for my lapghan in Loom Class. A special thank you goes out to Robin McCoy for the block #3 pattern. She has been working so hard in Loom Class and her birthday is Friday May 2nd (hint hint) Happy Birthday Robin!! Ruby has been working on a daisy Quilt for her daughter. So far it has over 600 daisies and a long way to go. She is also working on a surpise to post on the blog here. Until next time, Loom on.

Here's a good tip for working a printed pattern. Take a scrap piece of yarn a little more than twice as wide as your paper. Tie a knot so that the yarn will slip over the page snugly. By adding small beads or more scraps of yarn you can mark repeating rows abacus style by sliding them across. A simple but effective pattern row counter you can make in a jiffy.

About me: Im married to a great man, that make me so very happy. Karl is very supportive in all things I do or try to do,he even helps me as I go along when needed. We have 4 grown children and two grandbabys. Im so lucky to have a hubby that shares in the same ideals, likes and dislikes.We live in central Fl. We love the outdoors, gardening, fishing, working with our hands and all kinds of crafts. I moved to Fl. from NE Tx.Jan.06 to be with Karl. I miss my children,grandbabys and kiddos and grandkiddos back in Tx. Karl and I both are Lightning Strike Survivors. With him bing hit once and me bing hit 10 times. Goes to show you that not everyone dies from lightning but sometimes it makes you wished you had due to all the pain and strange things that happen to your body after bing hit by lightning. Im learning to loom on round and long looms. There very easy to use and helps take my mind off some of the pain due to lightning.

May 16,2001 I took my son and daughter to meet up with my parents at a lake where my baby brothers wifes family were having there family get together. My children wanted to go swimming so we were playing in the water till I seen that sky was turning dark due to a comming storm,so we all got out of the water to be on the safe side and went back up to the camp site where my parents were set up. I had been seating with my parents till I got up and walked over to where my SIL parents camper and I hurd a loud round of thunder and out of nowheres this big white ball of lightning (comming from there camper ) hit me in my left eye and went out of the middle of my back,wow I had never been in so much pain. I thought my left eye was melted due to the heat from the lightning fireball OMG it hurt so bad like as if my eye was on fire. Both of my parents came over to check on me. My dad was trying to get me to talk to him but I couldn't even talk,oh I tried to talk but no words were comming out. My dad ask me if I was ok and said he seen that white ball hit me but didnt see it nowheres. Poor dad was freeking out and as for my mom she thought it was just a lighting bug that had got in my eye hmmm lol. All I know is I was on fire inside and out where the lightning fire ball came in and exited. All I could see with my left eye was bright white and a little orange lights, and wow my back was burning so bad. When I was able to talk, I ask my dad was my eye gone.Dad said no its still there ,then I ask him to look at my back, he said that there was a burned place in the middle of my back but it was ok so dad helped me inside there motorhome to rest. I didn't go to the hospital because due to my past hits with lightning the hospital told me if was wasn't dying or close to it there nothing they can do for anyone that lightning strikes. My mom helped by holding an icepack on my back and I had one on my eye. The lightning fire ball blinded me in my left eye till 2:32 pm the next day when my eye sight returned.

Happy Birthday to meeeee I could seeeeee, that was one birthday I will never forget. Thanks to the lightning loving me so much I now suffer with pain all the time and nerve damage and every time there is any lightning at all I feel it inside mt body and eye. My eye sight messes up where its hard to see every time there is any lightning at all around me. Don't ever think your safe in a car when its lightning because I have had lightning to come in the window when I was driving and hit my in the middle of my chest 3 times so far, just glad that someone was in the car with me each time due to me not bing able to move after it hit me for 5 to 10 min after. This is why I loom or do other thing to try and keep my mind off my pain. Hope I didn't bore you.

Loomed Firewood Carrier

Hi. Picture yourself on a camping trip walking in a pristine forest when you spot a downed tree. Knowing there is little firewood around your campsite you get out your trusty hatchet. In no time you have an impressive pile of firewood. How to get it back to camp? If you make one of these it's no problem at all.
Picture shows carrier with over 40 pounds of sticks.

Light, compact and strong. You can make this from various materials. This one is made from jute twine. Almost twice as thick standard weight yarn and much stronger. This can be made on a rake or round loom. After making it I think it should be a bit wider and not as long so the pattern below reflects this using a technique I call knot knitting.
Should last many years if taken care of.

Firewood Carrier Pattern

Supply List: 2 rolls Jute twine (350 ft)
2 wooden dowels 15-18" long, 3/4-1" dia.
Blue KK Long Loom or Green KK Round Loom
KK I-Cord Loom Gauge not important

Notions: Loom hook, crochet hook, scissors, metal yarn needle, hand saw.

We will be using pegs 1,4,7,10,13,16,19,22,25,28 and 31 only as a flat panel throughout pattern. Working with one strand.

Step 1
Leaving 4 foot tail place slip knot on first peg, skip pegs 2 and 3, e-wrap 4, Continue in this manner to peg 31. E-wrap peg 31 and work back to peg 1.
Knit over all pegs. All e-wraps should be on same pegs.

Step 2
All rows are worked the same. All pegs are worked separately.
On peg one E-wrap, knit over. Do this 3 times on same peg, pulling yarn tight after each yarn over. You should have 3 st on peg one.
This will create a knot.
Repeat on pegs 4,7,10,13,16,19,22,25,28 and 31
Continue for 48 rows or until desired length.

Step 3
Binding off. Use gather method but tie knot in each stitch pulling working yarn tight to next stitch.
Leave 4 foot tail

Step 4
Shaping net.
After taking off loom grasp the net tightly and pull the knots tight. Do this across then up and down all rows.

Step 5
Attaching dowels.
Stretch out net width wise to get dowel length.
Cut dowels to length. Lay the net flat. Place dowel across one end. Roll netting over dowel until net meets tightly. Now using the long tail, Using metal yarn needle sew stitches together all the way across to make a tight sleeve for the dowel. Optional* To keep sleeve from sliding make a stitch across the center at the end of dowels in netting It should like this (!) at the end of dowel.

Step 6
Make handles.
Using small end of KK I-Cord Loom E-wrap as per directions until 17" long leaving long tail on both ends(for sewing handle together). Use gather bind off method.

Step 7
Attaching handles.
Measure to find center of dowels. 2" from center wrap end of I-cord around dowel leaving about 2" of
cord to attach. Using the long tail on I-cord sew together. Pull I_cord tight at dowel and stitch across to make handle bind tight to dowel.
Repeat with other end of handle. Attach 2nd handle following method for first handle.
Weave in all tails.

Note: If you leave out dowels and attach handles to netting then sew up sides, you have a sturdy, compact shopping bag. The materials in this pattern are biodegradable
If it should become lost in the woods it will rot away so as not to endanger wildlife. You may want to use a stronger, longer lasting material for use at home.

A busy week Looming

This has been a busy week of looming and crocheting. Ruby did most of the crocheting and some looming too. Wow. Can she hook that needle! Some of her projects are on my previous post. She will be joining us often in the future.
As for me I finished Afghan block #2, decided the shade of green was too bland so back to the yarn store (grin) and picked out a deeper green and made another. This one stands out much better. Thanks goes out to Jenny Stark for sharing the pattern and teaching the class. Great job! An easy fun pattern and I think it looks great.

The new dolls have started a doll craze as more people are getting dolls and I've been getting a lot of emails for patterns for doll clothes. Ruby has been crocheting most of the doll clothes while I've been in the laboratory experimenting with my looms. I came up with a quick easy bootie design I really like using the knifty knitter flower loom. The same bootie will fit a newborn too.
The pattern needs a little tweaking yet.

Also loomed some doll panties, a little blouse and a couple of hats you can pull the pig tails through the top of the hat. I think they are so cute!

Modeling is hard work!

Still working on the rest of her outfit. More on it later.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, hubby finished his firewood carrier and finally got some pics of it for me. Turned out great. I'm so proud of him.
It holds a lot of wood. It's very sturdy and looks great. Should last for years.
Here's a pic of it rolled up. As you can see it's very compact.

I know what you're thinking...how can that little thing hold all that wood. Just have to come back and see. Will feature it in the next post.

Hi, I would like you to meet my dear friend Darlene Rambo. Darlene and I met in our yahoo loom class one day and have been having so much fun. I just wish I could learn to crochet 1/2 as good as Darlene. We both chat on yahoo every day. We crochet and loom as we chat on yahoo messenger and we both are learning alot from each other now that we both have our new baby dolls. She's a hookin' and I'm a pickin' LOL.

Daisy Baby Hat

Pattern by Ruby Darlene Rambo

pattern done using e-wrap on blue kk round loom
Tools needed: Blue KK Loom, Knit-Wit or KK flower loom, pick,
yarn needle, scissors
Using two strands as one knit off 6 rows for brim, add off color for 2 rows. Do 6 more rows put first row back on pegs to finish brim.
Continue e wrapping to length you want gather off-do not tie or cut yarn yet.

Using Flower loom or knit-wit as per instructions with loom Make flower in basic color, trim with contrast color, Gather top of hat to fit flower and tie off. Attach flower with contrast color to hat, tuck in all tails

New Baby Dolls

Hi There, I have been having fun looming new things for my baby dolls hubby and Ruby got me for my early birthday gift. Trying out new ideas I'm making up as I go so no need to follow a pattern. There are two preemie dolls, one miracle baby and one My dream baby. My friend Darlene sent me a big box with the two preemie dolls, two hand made pacifiers, two beautiful sets of crocheted booties and a gorgeous porcelain doll she'd made herself. Also went shopping for yarn and other goodies for babies. Woo Hoo! Will post pics of babies soon.
Making a pair of baby pants on the loom-will write up pattern as I go.
Had loomed booties for preemies but turns out their feet are really small so will do more on big end of I-cord loom. Hat was perfect fit.
Right now working on second block for Loom Class.
Special thanks to Darlene and Hubby for a great early Birthday Surprise.
Also Darlene taught me how to crochet her pattern for baby booties.

Making Things For A Friend

Even as the spring storms have been looming so have I. Using a variation of Robin McCoys Strawberry Sundae Deluxe hat pattern I did some preemie hats and booties for a dear friend. We were talking and she asked how I was at making booties.
It has been AGES since I made baby booties. But I gave it a shot and tried a heel for the first time. Made them without a pattern. They turned out great I'm happy to say. Hope your baby enjoys these Darlene as much as I enjoyed making them.
I got an early Birthday present when Darlene sent me a bond knitting machine.
Happy Birthday to Meee! Whoo Hoo. I love it!
Meanwhile Hubby finished his firewood carrier and will feature that in the next post.
He did a great job on it and I'm so proud of him.

Finished my first afghan block

Finished my first afghan block for LoomClass. This one was hosted by Robin McCoy.
She's such a doll. Seemed such an easy pattern but turned out to be tricky.
Those pesky frogs kept jumping in LOL. This was my first time using a knitting chart. I like it. Even got to see how right handers do it. I found it was a lot easier to turn the loom upside down when working right handed and right side up to do it lefty as I'm left-handed. Learned a chain stitch cast on and found out the right way to do a knit stitch-well there are three ways to do a knit stitch.
The frogs in the pic- one on left is waving hi, we're back and one on right is laughing at all the frogging I had to do before I finally got it right.
Thanks so much Robin McCoy for the pattern and being so patient. She's a great teacher.

Cable can be such a pain!

Our internet has been having problems. It would connect, disconnect, connect again just long enough to tease me. Calling the cable company was as frustrating as the connection. After 5 no shows they finally sent out not one but two guys who ended up replacing everything only to find out the problem was elsewhere.
It's finally working-better than ever so hopefully I can keep my blog up to date now.

Hubby having fun looming

When I was learning to read patterns hubby helped and to do so he had to learn the basic stitches. Since then he has made a rope using string on the I-cord loom and now he made a firewood carrier on the knifty knitter using a technique he calls knot knitting using jute twine. Will post pictures and the pattern after he adds the wooden dowels. I think you'll like it. He did a great job-especially for a newbie LOL. I'm so glad he's taken an interest in the looms. He already has more ideas looming for the looms. Lucky me he'll want more looms so he'll make them as he needs them. More looms for me hee hee.
As for me I'm working on 3 projects. Not sure which I will get finished first so you'll just have to come back and see LOL.

Convertible Scarf Pattern

I finally found time to write out this pattern.
Wow! Thank you ALL for the wonderful compliments and requests for the pattern.
I had a lot of trouble learning to read patterns as I'm a visual person and left-handed to boot. I wrote this pattern with newbies in mind.
It's very easy so don't be afraid to go for it. If you can loom a hat on a round loom you can do this.
Just copy and paste onto notepad on your computer.

For now it is free to download for non-commercial use.

This is the pattern for the Convertible Scarf

I've tried to write this so that loomers at all levels can follow it. Pattern is the same for right and left handers.

Project was worked using lion brand homespun baroque #322 on the green kk round loom. Guage not important.
2 strands throughout. For a thinner scarf use one strand.

Items needed

Green Knifty Knitter round Loom
2 6 oz skeins Lion Brand Homespun (185 yards per skein)
2 foot pc contrasting colored yarn
Tapestry Needle
Scissors
4 3/4-1" round buttons with nub on back (Flat buttons won't work)

Step 1:

row 1:
working with 2 strands of yarn doing Basic E-wrap
cast On all pegs, 3 rounds ( will have 3 wraps on each peg) Knit off 2 over 1

row 2:
E-wrap all pegs 3 times ( will be 4 wraps on each peg ) KO 2 over 2

row 3 thru 100: (or to desired length)
Continue to KO 2 over 2

(I usually do 100 rows-your mileage may vary)

row 100:
100th or last row knit off 3 over 1 leaving one st on each peg.

Cut yarn leaving a 2 ft tail.

To Bind Off take your piece of contrasting yarn thread on tapestry needle and starting with peg one guide needle up through loop on each peg.Leaving long tail lift all stiches off all pegs.(Don't gather or tie knot)

Step 2:
Take tube and lay it flat on table match stitches of the two halves with tail on left end and place back on loom on pegs 1-18. This is where the contrasting yarn comes in handy to find the stitches.
Each peg should have 2 stitches on it.
Remove contrasting yarn.

KO all pegs then take tail and wrap the first peg once and KO 1 over 1. Now move stitch on peg 1 to peg 2.
Repeat on peg 2-working stitch on peg 2 to 3, 3 to 4 etc.
On last stitch wrap as above now cut short tail pull it through last stitch. Pull tail tight. Hide tail.

Repeat step 2 on other end of scarf minus the contrasting yarn.

Congratulations you scarf is comeplete except for the buttons.

Step 3 Attaching Buttons:

Sew on buttons using thread or yarn

I place buttons by finding 3rd stitch from side and 5th stitch from bottom sewing on buttons with same yarn front and back
Do same on other end.

No buttonholes needed. just work button through yarn wherever you want.
This can be worn as shown in my blog and several other ways as well.

Finished SIL's Scarf

Hi There ,Thanks for dropping by. Hubby named this scarf The Convertible Scarf, due to all the ways one can wear it. This scarf was made for my ex SIL for her birthday, she doesn't like hats or a long scarf.I was going to add 2 more buttons on back of the two buttons till hubby said make it just like the one I made for my mother and his sister, but from now on there will be two buttons back to back on each side lol( you can see in pic's why i need 4 buttons ) .With me learning to loom, you know its easy to make lol. I'll post a pattern soon. It will be free for others to use for now but please don't sell them if you make them. I made this scarf on the green kk round loom. Hope you like it, Take care.

Strawberry Pattern

Wow, I'm surprised so many people asked for the strawberry pattern.
This pattern will work for many types of berries depending on if and how you stuff it and how you shape it after it is done.

Instructions:

Start of pattern:

Take a KK I-cord loom and use the bigger end with 8 pegs to make a strawberry.

Pick up 2 strands of red yarn,Leaving a tail short E-wrap loom twice. KO 1 over 1, single stich.

Continue in single stich for 5 rounds on loom.

Next step:

Starting with peg 1

move stich off peg 1 and put onto peg 2
move stich off peg 3 and put onto peg 4
move stich off peg 5 and put onto peg 6
move stich off peg 7 and put onto peg 8
Now you will only have stiches on 4 pegs.

Next step:
Cut WY Leaving 2" tail and remove from loom using the gathered BO method.Tuck in tail,(leave it inside out this is the look you want.

Now with green yarn sew over your knot where you just gathered,as in making a big X, do this over and over the same big X pattern 5 times. Cut and tuck in tail. (This will make the green cap on top of your strawberry look real.) well kinda hee hee

Last step:
Close up bottom end by gathering it with red yarn.
Shape your strawberry and your done.

Trying a new stitch

I have been making everyone else slippers,so I thought I would make me a pair.
Up till now the only stitch I used on them was the e-wrap. I thought I'd try a different stitch. I wanted a tighter cuff but I tried the knit one pearl two. Didn't work so I frogged it. Then I tried knit two pearl two and came up with a faux rib stitch. It worked great. When I turned down the cuff it had my initial on it.
Kool. Then I just e-wrapped 2 over 1 and 1 over 2 for the rest of it. Finished them just in time as we had 3 cold nights in a row. I know, we're spoiled here in Fla. They turned out warm and comfy.
Now im starting on my x SIL's scarf for her birthday the 19 of this month, glad its a short scarf lol. Will try and write a pattern for it as so many asked for the pattern when I showed the last one. I call it my convertible scarf as it can be worn many ways. Will post pics when done.

The Strawberry Craze

In my LoomClass Robin McCoy taught us how to make a Strawberry Deluxe Sundae Hat using one of her patterns. I was so excited as it was the first thing I made strictly using a pattern. It turned out great. As I was looking at it afterwards I thought hmmnn this would make a great cover for a spare roll of TP....and the craze began LOL. First I did the TP cover by altering the pattern.
Then I realized it was about the same size as a square Kleenex box so another project for the loom. I had to add a few rows to the basic hat pattern to make the height of the box. It worked! As hubby was taking pics of my projects for me I started to fold the TP cover and realized I'd made a Strawberry Deluxe Pie LOL. It looked yummy. When I posted the pics on my Yahoo group I was asked for the pattern for the strawberry on top. Now this was crocheted and it is a loom group so I made another using the KK I-Cord loom and wrote the pattern as I went along. Another first. Loved doing these. It led to all kinds of ideas.

Looming fun

At 16 I saw my first knitting loom in a store being demonstrated. Wow, they were expensive. I looked at it and thought yeah, I can do that. I went home and made me a knitting loom. I made it long enough to make an afghan. I didn't have to buy yarn due to me already knitting & crocheting.I knew once I figured out how to use this knitting loom I could make all kinds of kool things with it. I'm a fast learner lol. I loomed all kinds of thing for everyone. In May of 07 Hubby and I went to Wally World (wal mart) and I found a Knifty Knitter kit of 4 round looms for only 12.00. So I got back into doing looming after all those years. I have been having so much fun with these looms. I checked out loom knitting on Yahoo Groups and found there are a lot of great groups devoted to it. One thing led to another and here I am. I was self taught on my long loom but had never learned how to read a pattern or what the stiches were called. I'm learning all that now.
Now I have the knifty knitter long loom set and a second set of round ones.
I love working with yarn. All kinds of crafts but especially those involving yarn.
